Just a suggestion.Īs far as price, yes the full version is much cheaper than any comparable professional level product, to the tune of several thousand cheaper for some products so it definitely has a place in the market. That might make a good place to start for people and then when their designs grow beyond 2 layers they might move up.

You can get hobby level 4 layer boards made (extremely short run of 1 and 2 units), but they are far from hobby price. Maybe you could make the free version allow more pins and only 2 layers which would cover 90% of the hobby market. The ability to import Eagle designs might win you a few customers that need to move into something more feature rich from the free Eagle version. The canned 0805 pads for resistors and caps seem to be about 100% too large for any components that I've purchased. Honestly I've just decided that I'll keep banging away with FreePCB, the autorouter is a bit clunky but good enough for now (considering the price).Īs far as included symbols, the searching I did for symbols a couple weeks ago suggested that most professionals prefer to generate their own for the specific parts they are going to use, which is the position I've also adopted.
